Holly Lawn

From log to urn with the Holly Lawn home hand carved on the face.

I worked closely with the customer and the arborist from the day a storm blew the tree onto their home, to create an heirloom piece. The final design for the turned form was selected from several choices. Holly bands frame a hand-carved illustration of the home on the face of the 37” tall vase.

His and Hers Chairs

With clients 6’1” and 5’5" tall respectively, their needs for comfort differ greatly. I had them each sit in a mock- up of their chair to determine the appropriate size. I then built two sets of his and hers reclining chairs. One in white oak w/ red leather for their library and one set in cherry w/ black leather, along with a matching love seat, for their family room.

Walnut Computer Desk

My client supplied the walnut for this computer desk. The gallery can be removed for transport or to have more surface area to work on, and there is a wooden plug for the cable hole if it is not being used. The Pintail duck inlay is mirrored in each corner.

Black Lacquered Necklace Box

I was commissioned to build a storage and presentation box for a sterling silver jewelry set. With a custom-cut compartment for the irregularly-shaped necklace and twin pockets for the matching earrings, all the jewelry is protected when the lid is closed.

Walnut Writing Desk

My client supplied the walnut for this writing desk, along with heart pine for the internal parts. Because the drawers transverse the entire width of the desk, the structure that holds the legs, drawers, and top requires large dovetails and double tenons.

Processional Cross

A local church was looking for a unique cross to be used in their services. I worked with a committee of their members to design the five appliques, and then hand-carved them in cherry.
